 | (Please read our check-in requirements at the bottom of this page before making your booking)
We're located in the heart of Philadelphia's Old City in downtown, less than 3 blocks from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, and just around the corner from some of Philly's best pubs, nightclubs and restaurants. | | You'll love our friendly and knowledgeable staff, comfortable beds, clean facilities, large lounge and fully-equipped kitchen.
At Apple Hostels of Philadelphia, we make sure we've taken care of the important details so that you can spend your time concerned with more important things - like what to do first! | | All of these things make staying at Apple Hostels of Philadelphia a great value, but it’s our friendly staff and daily tours and activities that make us the travelers’ favorite hostel in Philadelphia! | | In order to safeguard our guests and to uphold the atmosphere of our travelers’ hostel, we require that upon check-in each guest must provide a valid foreign passport, a Canadian driver’s license or out-of-state college ID and government-issued ID. You may also be asked to provide proof of current international travel. As well as having out-of-state identification, the ID must also show that you live outside a 100-mile radius of the hostel. You must be 18 years of age or older unless accompanied by a parent or a school-appointed chaperon.
There is a 14-day maximum stay for all of our guests.
We are affiliated with Hostelling International, so while a membership is not required, you will need to pay a $3 fee per night if you are not a member. |

Location & Transportation |

We're located in one of Philadelphia's Old City district of downtown, not far from Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and the Visitors' Centre. The area is very popular for bars, restaurants and nightclubs. | | Directions | We're located on Bank Street between Market Street and Chestnut Street. | | Transportation | If you have a navigation device, you can use one of the following GPS coordinates to get to the hostel:
N 39° 56' 56", W 75° 08' 43" or N 39° 56.933, W 75° 08.710.
From Philadelphia International Airport Take the R1 train (just follow the signs, there are stops located at each terminal). The cost is $7 payable in cash on the train. Get off at the Market East Station. Once you've exited the train, exit the platform towards 10th Street. Follow Market Street towards 2nd Street (approximately 10 minutes walking distance to the hostel). Bank Street is between 3rd and 2nd Street on the right hand side.
Shuttles are also available from the airport for $10 per person plus tip. You have to go to the ground transportation desk located at each terminal near luggage claim and ask the person behind the desk to call a shuttle for you.
Taxis to the hostel cost $28.50 plus 50 cents for each additional person plus tip. It's a fixed price and the cost is usually posted on the back of the seat in front of you. Taxis are located outside of each terminal.
From Greyhound Bus Station Walk on Market Street towards 2nd Street (approximately 12 to 15 minutes walking distance to the hostel). Bank Street is a very small street (one of the oldest streets in Philadelphia) between 2nd and 3rd Street, on the right hand side.
You can also take the subway from 11th St, which would be the Market-Frankford (blue) Line eastbound, get off at 2nd St, walk towards 3rd St and turn left on Bank St. The hostel is located at the other end of Bank Street, close to Chestnut Street.
Using Megabus from New York The Megabus is often the cheapest bus between New York (Penn Station) and Philadelphia. Get off at their 6th and Market Street stop, then walk down Market Street towards 2nd Street. Turn right on Bank Street. (In total, this is approximately 5 minutes walking distance).
Chinatown Bus There are a few bus companies that depart from Chinatown in New York, Baltimore and Washington DC. They let you off on 11th Street between Filbert Street and Arch Street. Walk to Market Street and then walk down Market Street towards 2nd Street. Turn right on Bank Street. (In total, this is approximately 12 to 15 minutes walking distance).
You can also take the subway from 11th St, which would be the Market-Frankford (blue) Line eastbound, get off at 2nd St, walk towards 3rd St and turn left on Bank St. The hostel is located at the other end of Bank Street, close to Chestnut Street.
From Amtrak's 30th Street Station (including Megabus from cities other than New York) Take the blue-line subway from the train station. Get off on Second Street. Bank Street is a very small street (like an alley) between 2nd and 3rd Street, so if you're walking up from 2nd Street towards 3rd Street, Bank Street will be on the left hand side.
Parking There are many parking lots near the hostel charging anywhere from $17 to $25 per day. However, most will charge you for two days if you park at night and then pick the car up the next morning. So we highly recommend the Ritz parking garage on 2nd Street between Chestnut Street and Walnut Street. They charge $18 for 24 hours of parking no matter when you park your car. It is less than a 2-minute walk from the hostel. For detailed directions on Google Maps click here. | | Airport | Philadelphia International Airport (15 miles) |
